Pamela Lippe

Pamela Lippe   For twenty years, Ms. Lippe has served as Executive Director of Earth Day New York (EDNY), a 501(c) 3 non-profit educational organization, and more recently, was elected its President.

 

Her involvement with Earth Day began in December 1989 when she was hired to organize the 20th Anniversary events in New York City in April 1990. Ms. Lippe was responsible for mobilizing nearly two million people to attend the Earth Rising Ceremony in Times Square, the Environmental Exposition and Cultural Festival on Sixth Avenue and a major concert in Central Park. For the 25th Anniversary in 1995, EDNY organized a series of diverse arts and educational events including the Parade for the Planet on Sixth Avenue, Giant Earth Projections throughout the city, an International Poster Exhibition at the World Trade Center and the first Building the Sustainable Economy Conference.

 

Since 1996, Earth Day New York has targeted a number of its educational campaigns to the real estate community including six well-received Lessons Learned publications distributed broadly throughout the industry. In addition, Ms. Lippe conceived and coordinated several Building the Sustainable Economy Conferences in New York City which helped initiate the first sustainability conference in Cuba in 1998. She lectures regularly at conferences and seminars both nationally and internationally.

 

Ms. Lippe was a founding member of the Earth Day Network and served as its first President and as a Director from 1994 - 2006. In addition, she also serves on the Board of Directors of the Rainforest Action Network and Earth Share New York, after seven years on the Board of national EarthShare.

 

Ms. Lippe's extensive public affair's work dates back to the 1970's and illustrates a highly diverse skill set. Highly effective at popularizing social issues through the arts and media, Ms. Lippe developed and ran a celebrity clearinghouse from 1981?1986, was the National Director of the Musicians United for Safe Energy (MUSE) Foundation from 1979 - 1981 and organized two public anti-nuclear demonstrations in 1979 in Washington and New York City with 150,000 and 250,000 attendees. As Founder and Director of Citizens Vote, Inc, she was involved in producing MTV's first get?out? the?vote campaign and convincing them to donate over a million dollars of advertising time. Her first job was with Friends of the Earth in Washington, DC where she organized against nuclear power and lobbied on recombinant DNA regulatory legislation.

 

Pamela Lippe is also President of e4, inc. She has 14 years experience as a green building consultant and over 35 years in the environmental and communications fields. She was the environmental consultant to The Durst Organization on the first “green” skyscraper built in the United States and continues to work on all Durst projects, including the new Bank of America Tower at One Bryant Park. Her work helps ensure that environmental quality and building performance are achieved throughout each phase of a building’s life cycle in a timely and cost-effective manner.

 

e4, inc. is an innovative sustainability consulting firm specializing in strategic advice to clients with a strong focus on the built environment and the US Green Building Council’s Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) rating systems. e4, inc. has in-depth experience with most USGBC products including LEED for New Construction, Core & Shell, Commercial Interiors, Neighborhood Development, Existing Buildings, Retail and Homes.

 

Clients include The Durst Organization with their ground-breaking buildings at Four Times Square and One Bryant Park, Simon Property Group, Forest City Ratner, TIAA CREF and many other building owner/developers. e4, inc. was hired to assist the NYC Department of Design & Construction evaluate the use of LEED for Existing Buildings on City properties by exploring a LEED Existing Building rating for the Brooklyn Academy of Music, the Bird House Administration Building at the Bronx Zoo and the Flushing Library.

 


 

Joanna Black has worked on Earth Day Celebrations in New York for the last 3 years.  Initially, she was involved as an independent consultant. She has been Managing Director since December 2010.

Black draws on an extensive background of environmental, entrepreneurial and marketing credentials.  Her blend of business experience, environmental knowledge and marketing savvy has proven invaluable. Today, she is a leading practitioner in her field, having worked closely with clients such as Earth Day Network, News Corporation, New York Health & Racquet Club, Toshiba, Anvil Knitwear, Fuji Novel, Earth Day New York, GustOrganics and PeoplesBank.

Black is president and founder of G-Squared Group, a New York-based sustainability marketing consultancy.  She is regularly invited to share her thoughts on sustainable lifestyle choices and business practices; she was most recently featured on Sundance Channel in a vignette titled "My Real Life Plan", and has appeared in Green Business Magazine, New York House Magazine, and has been a guest speaker at conferences including Financial Services Going Green and The Go Green Expo.

 

Ms. Black majored in Environment and Resource Studies at the University of Waterloo in Canada.

 


 

Matthew Daly is Deputy Director of Earth Day New York, where he manages operations and special projects. He is a LEED Accredited Professional, focusing on sustainability, green building, and how these strategies can be used to resolve many of the environmental issues facing New York City and other regions. Matthew is currently the project manager for the Green Roof Feasibility Study, a project funded in the first cycle of Greening Western Queens. In addition to his work at EDNY, Matthew serves as the Manager of Business Development at e4, inc.

Before joining EDNY, he was a Project Manager at Art Preservation Services, Inc., a firm specialized in the environmental preservation of museum collections, archival materials, and historic buildings. At APS, he worked on architectural preservation studies for Sagamore Hill National Historic Site, the UN Secretariat, and the Preservation Society of Newport County, among others.

 

Matthew graduated from Yale College with a B.A. in History.
