Pamela Lippe

For twenty years, Ms. Lippe has served as executive director of Earth Day New York (EDNY), a 501(c) 3 non-profit educational organization, and more recently, was elected its President. 

Her involvement with Earth Day began in December 1989 when she was hired to organize the 20th Anniversary events in New York City in April 1990.  Ms. Lippe was responsible for mobilizing nearly two million people to attend the Earth Rising Ceremony in Times Square, the Environmental Exposition and Cultural Festival on Sixth Avenue and a major concert in Central Park.  For the 25th Anniversary in 1995, EDNY organized a series of diverse arts and educational events including the Parade for the Planet on Sixth Avenue, Giant Earth Projections throughout the city, an International Poster Exhibition at the World Trade Center and the first Building the Sustainable Economy Conference. 

Since 1996, Earth Day New York has targeted a number of its educational campaigns to the real estate community including six well-received Lessons Learned publications distributed broadly throughout the industry.  In addition, Ms. Lippe conceived and coordinated several Building the Sustainable Economy Conferences in New York City which helped initiate the first sustainability conference in Cuba in 1998.  She lectures regularly at conferences and seminars both nationally and internationally. 

Ms. Lippe was a founding member of the Earth Day Network and served as its first President and as a Director from 1994 - 2006. In addition, she also serves on the Board of Directors of the Rainforest Action Network and Earth Share New York, after seven years on the Board of national EarthShare.

Ms. Lippe's extensive public affair's work dates back to the 1970's and illustrates a highly diverse skill set.  Highly effective at popularizing social issues through the arts and media, Ms. Lippe developed and ran a celebrity clearinghouse from 1981?1986, was the National Director of the Musicians United for Safe Energy (MUSE) Foundation from 1979?1981 and organized two public anti-nuclear demonstrations in 1979 in Washington and New York City with 150,000 and 250,000 attendees.  As Founder and Director of Citizens Vote, Inc, she was involved in producing MTV's first get?out? the?vote campaign and convincing them to donate over a million dollars of advertising time.  Her first job was with Friends of the Earth in Washington, DC where she organized against nuclear power and lobbied on recombinant DNA regulatory legislation.

Pamela Lippe is also President of e4, inc.  She has 14 years experience as a green building consultant and over 35 years in the environmental and communications fields.  She was the environmental consultant to The Durst Organization on the first “green” skyscraper built in the United States and continues to work on all Durst projects, including the new Bank of America Tower at One Bryant Park.  Her work helps ensure that environmental quality and building performance are achieved throughout each phase of a building’s life cycle in a timely and cost-effective manner.
