Nurturing Nature

Earth Day New York is actively nurturing New York City’s urban forest in a partnership with PlaNYC’s MillionTreesNYC initiative, New York  Restoration Project, Natural Resources Group and NYC Parks Department. Our tree planting and tree stewarding (i.e. weeding, mulching and watering) events throughout the city help these young trees survive the first few years which are crucial to their health and growth.

  • Tree Planting to Fight Climate Change @ North Basin, Far Rockaway 10/24/09
  • Dig it! with Timberland @ Van Courtlandt Park, Bronx 10/3/09
  • Caring for our Urban Parks, Brooklyn Bridge Park, 6/20/09
  • Fun with Japanese Knotwoods, Forest Park, Queens June 13, 2009
  • 1800 Baby Tree Planting Day @ Michaelis Bayswater Park , November 7, 2008

We  organize local events and get our hands dirty with volunteers of all ages in an effort to achieve many quality-of-life benefits that come with our  most valuable environmental asset. Trees help clean our air, reduce the pollutants that trigger asthma attacks; exacerbate other respiratory  diseases; cool our streets, sidewalks, and homes on hot summer days; increase property value; and encourage neighborhood revitalization.

Earth Day New York is proud to be a vital part of this extraordinary gift to New York City for generations to come. Please join us!
